Tie Rod Ends
Tie Rod End Replacements for Cars, SUVs, & More
Replace worn tie rod ends with direct-fit units that restore precise steering response and eliminate play in your steering system. Tie rod ends connect the steering rack or tie rod to the steering knuckle, transmitting steering wheel movement to the front wheels. When a tie rod end wears out, steering becomes loose and unpredictable.
For Jeep, Dodge, and Other Vehicles
We stock tie rod ends for high-volume vehicles including the Jeep Wrangler (1991-2006), Dodge Ram (1994-2012), and Jeep JK (1991-2006), with both inner and outer tie rod positions available. Use the vehicle selector to find the exact fitment for your year and make.
Tie Rod End FAQ
What does a tie rod end do?
The tie rod end is the ball joint that connects the tie rod (the long rod running along the front of your vehicle) to the steering knuckle (the component holding the wheel hub). This connection allows the wheels to turn while remaining firmly attached to the suspension. A worn tie rod end causes loose steering and uneven tire wear.
Are there different tie rod ends for driver and passenger sides?
Yes. We carry inner tie rod ends (closest to the center of the vehicle) and outer tie rod ends (at the wheel side), both available for driver and passenger positions. The listings clearly identify which position each part fits, so you can order the exact piece you need.
What companion parts should I inspect?
While the steering system is apart, inspect the ball joints, control arms, and sway bar links. These parts often fail alongside tie rod ends and replacing them together prevents repeat visits to the shop.
Do I need an alignment after replacing a tie rod end?
Yes. Tie rod ends directly affect wheel alignment angles. After replacing a tie rod end, get a 4-wheel alignment to ensure even tire wear and proper steering geometry.
How fast do you ship?
Tie rod end orders ship in 2-4 days on all orders. Call 888-583-0255 or email [email protected] if you need fitment help.
What warranty covers tie rod ends?
Many Detroit Axle tie rod ends are backed by a 10-year warranty. Check each product page for the warranty term on that specific part.
