What are the signs of a bad fuel pump?
Listen for a whining noise from the fuel tank when you turn on the ignition. A failing pump may also cause hard starts, hesitation during acceleration, or the engine cutting out at highway speeds. In severe cases, the engine won’t start at all. If fuel pressure is low or the pump won’t run, replacement is the next step.
