Drag Links
Drag Links for Heavy-Duty Trucks and Jeeps
Replace a worn drag link with a direct-fit unit that restores responsive steering in high-mileage trucks and older Jeeps. A drag link connects the steering gearbox to the left-side tie rod in vehicles with a traditional steering gearbox. On heavy-duty trucks and Jeeps, drag links see constant stress and wear faster than other steering parts. When a drag link fails, steering becomes loose and imprecise.
We stock drag links for the Jeep Wrangler (1997-2006), Jeep JK (1997-2006), Ram 2500 (1998-1999), and Jeep TJ (1997-2006). Each application includes both driver and passenger side options, plus complete suspension kits that bundle drag links with tie rods, pitman arms, and idler arms.
Drag Link FAQ
What does a drag link do?
The drag link connects the steering gearbox output to the tie rod assembly, transferring steering wheel input to the wheels. On trucks and Jeeps with a gearbox system, the drag link is critical for steering response. A worn drag link causes loose steering and uneven tire wear.
Can I replace just one side of the drag link?
Drag links are vehicle-specific and not sold as individual driver or passenger sides like some steering parts. If your drag link is worn, it will need to be replaced as a complete unit. Check your product listing for your specific vehicle to confirm what comes in the box.
What companion parts should I replace?
While the steering is apart, inspect the tie rod ends, pitman arm, and idler arm. Steering components on trucks and Jeeps wear together, and doing them all at once prevents repeat visits to the shop.
How fast do you ship?
Drag link orders ship in 2-4 days on all orders. Call 888-583-0255 or email [email protected] if you need fitment help.
What warranty covers drag links?
Many Detroit Axle drag links are backed by a 10-year warranty. Check each product page for the warranty term on that specific part.
