How do I know if my CV axle is going bad?

The most common symptom is a clicking or popping sound on turns. Other signs include a torn CV boot leaking grease, vibration under acceleration, or a clunk when shifting from park to drive. A leaking boot is an early warning. If you catch it before the joint dries out, you can save the axle. Once the joint gets noisy, it is time for a replacement.

Do your CV axles come pre-assembled?

Yes. Each CV axle is a complete assembly with both CV joints, pre-greased, and boots installed. You bolt it in, no joint rebuild needed.

What else should I check when I replace a CV axle?

Inspect the wheel bearing hub assembly and ball joints on the same corner while the axle is out. Those parts share wear patterns, and doing them together saves you from tearing the corner apart twice. If the driveshaft is also involved, check our drive shaft catalog.
