Center Links for Heavy-Duty Steering Systems

Replace worn center links with direct-fit replacements that restore precise steering control in pickup trucks and full-size vehicles. A center link connects the pitman arm to the idler arm in vehicles with a traditional steering gearbox, transferring steering input to both front wheels. When a center link wears out, you lose steering precision and develop play or looseness in the steering wheel.

We stock center links for the Chevrolet Silverado (1999-2024). Our catalog is focused on full-size truck platforms where heavy-duty steering components experience high wear. If your vehicle is not listed, contact us to verify fitment.

Center Link FAQ

What does a center link do?

The center link is the steering component that bridges the pitman arm (output from the steering gearbox) and the idler arm (mounted to the frame). As the steering wheel turns, the gearbox moves the pitman arm, which pulls or pushes the center link, moving both tie rods and turning both front wheels in sync.

How do I know if my center link is bad?

Signs include excessive play in the steering wheel, a wandering feeling while driving straight, or a clunking sound from the front steering area during turns. If you notice any of these, the center link and related steering components should be inspected before driving further.

What companion parts should I inspect?

When you replace a center link, also inspect the pitman arm, idler arm, and tie rod ends. These components wear together and replacing them together prevents repeat trips to the shop.

How fast do you ship?

Center link orders ship in 2-4 days on all orders. Call 888-583-0255 or email [email protected] if you need fitment help.

What warranty covers center links?

Many Detroit Axle center links are backed by a 10-year warranty. Check each product page for the warranty term on that specific part.
