What is a CV boot and what does it do?

A CV boot is a rubber protective cover around the CV joint that holds grease in and keeps dirt and water out. When a boot tears, grease escapes and the joint dries out, leading to clicking, popping, and eventual joint failure. Replacing the boot early can save the joint.

Can I replace just the boot without replacing the whole axle?

Yes, if the joint itself is not damaged and only the boot is torn, you can replace just the boot to restore protection. If the joint is already clicking or the damage is severe, you may need to replace the complete CV axle.

Do CV boots come in pairs?

Our CV boots are sold in pairs, covering both left and right sides or inner and outer positions depending on the kit. Replacing both at the same time ensures balanced protection across the front end.

What else should I check when I replace a boot?

Inspect the drive shaft and ball joints while you have the corner apart. If the CV joint is worn, these parts may be too.
