What does a sway bar link do?
The sway bar link is the connecting rod that ties the sway bar to the suspension. As the vehicle leans during turns, the sway bar resists this motion and the link transfers that force to the suspension frame. This reduces body roll and keeps the vehicle stable on corners.
Should I replace both sides at once?
Yes. If one sway bar link is worn, the opposite side is usually not far behind. Replacing both sides on the same axle ensures balanced suspension response and prevents the need for a repeat repair in a few months.
What is the difference between a sway bar link and a sway bar bushing?
A sway bar link is the connecting rod with ball joints at each end that physically joins the sway bar to the frame. A sway bar bushing is the rubber sleeve that cushions where the sway bar mounts to the frame. They work together but serve different purposes. If your vehicle has loose handling, inspect both.
